A Call to Discernment of the Possibility of God’s Imminent Judgement

Back on September 11, two friends of my sister (in Deland Florida) were praying before lunch and asking God what they should pray about, since it was the anniversary of the attacks on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon, when they were overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit. They received a message of God’s coming judgement on America. They were told they had 6 months to prepare; the judgment would be devastating and last for three months, and finally God would both protect and bring relief for the sake of His people.

My sister called me to let me know and while I already had a growing sense of God’s approaching judgment, I started doing some research about what other Christians were hearing in their interaction with God. When you go on the Internet you can find some truly outlandish and off-the-wall stuff, so I tried to search out the most level headed Christians, especially those who had “words” from the past that might apply. I include below a summary of my efforts, with links to the source material where possible or at least reliable secondary sources.

Two Coworkers:

These two people do not know each other and their testimonies are independent.

  1. I had been off contract for several months and had just come back to work at a new building/location on a different contract when a former coworker, who did not know I had come back to work, stumbled into my cubicle looking for a conference room. That alone was a shock, but after talking for a few minutes I told him about what had happened to my sister’s friends. He got very upset and told me he wished he had never blundered into my cubicle. He had had a dream that showed severe devastation to the United States, with anarchy and grievous loss of life and I had just given him the conformation he had asked for but did not want.
  2. Our organization’s office manager told me she had a dream/vision back in 1987 that the U.S. was going to be severely judged and she walked past Washington D.C. with a long line of Christians going south. The city was burning and destroyed, with massive fissures running through it. She wrote a book about everything she saw but was sure God said she was not allowed to publish it until the time was at hand. Late last year she was clearly lead to publish the book, that the time was at hand.

Two Radio Personalities:

Several weeks ago, I was listening to Norris and Davis on 105.7 The Fan FM (Catonsville) on the way to work and the two personalities told about apocalyptic dreams they had just had. Davis’s dream was especially significant in that Baltimore was in chaos and burning – there were fires and smoke along with gunshots everywhere – and after he found Norris, his co-host warned hm that he needed to get to his family while he still could, after which he found himself on a pier with his wife on a departing boat at the end the pier. He ran as fast as he could and tried to jump onto the boat but missed, fell into the water and woke up.

I found this as an interesting, correlating event.

Time-tested Prophecy:

1968 Prophecy by a 90 Year Old Norwegian Woman. An article appears in The Free Republic about the experience of evangelist Emanuel Minos in 1968 in Valdres, a small town in south central Norway. You can read the article for the full story but suffice it say, Minos wrote down the prophecy of an elderly woman he met there, but considered it untenable until he rediscovered it about 30 years later. The gist, given in 1968 has four parts and these are the things she said would happen just before the return of Jesus and the outbreak of WWIII:

  1. “…there will be a ‘détente’ like we have never had before. There will be peace between the super powers in the east and the west, and there will be a long peace..disarmament.” [1968 was the height of the cold war, Mao was two years into his devastating cultural revolution in China, and the US is deeply embroiled in Vietnam having just been through the Tet Offensive.]
  2. Christians will be lukewarm like never before and fall away from true Christianity, not willing to sit under preaching of sin and grace, instead going after a “prosperity (happiness) Christianity and success, to be something; to have material things…entertainment, art and culture will invade the churches where there should have been gatherings for repentance and revival. This will increase markedly just before the return of Jesus.”
  3. Moral disintegration with couples living together, with uncleanness, infidelity and “sin against nature” [homosexuality]. TV will be a cesspool of violence, sex, and indecency and there will be many “stations” just like on radio. [At that time TV had just come to Norway and there were only a couple of stations/channels.
  4. There will be massive immigration from poor countries into Europe which will turn ugly with the public turning against them like they did against the Jews before WWII. Then the full measure of our sins will have been reached.

She told Minos she wouldn’t live to see it, but he would. WWIII would come. “”All that I have seen of war before is only child’s play compared to this one, and it will be ended with a nuclear atom bomb. The air will be so polluted that one cannot draw one’s breath. It will cover several continents, America, Japan, Australia and the wealthy nations.”

1937 Prophecy of Norwegian Pentecostal. “When oil comes out of the North Sea and along the Norwegian coast, things will begin to happen, and the return of Jesus is approaching.” In 1937 no one knew anything about the oil off the coast of Norway and the church thought he was crazy. At the height of the North Sea production, Norway was the 2nd largest producer of oil in the world, but now is only14th.

General Sense of Something is Coming Among Christians

I know many Christians, from all over the country who have a foreboding sense that something is about to happen and that concern has begun to increase over the last month.

Here is the content of the letter that one of the two women mentioned in the beginning sent to her family and friends. Remember, she lives near Daytona Beach Florida.

Dear Loved Ones,

Hope everyone is well and doing good! I’m circulating this note to all in our family and some friends. We have all heard for years the voices around  us urging us to “prepare” for hurricanes or disasters but I have spent a  lot of time in prayer and want to share with my family something I believe the Lord has given me. Once an event happens, it might be difficult or impossible to get to the store, get cash, or water or to get anything if  there is a panic.

I was moved greatly upon personally to seek the Lord further about needing  to make *preparation* for uncertain days ahead in this year. I am not a card carrying survivalist, own camouflage gear, nor do I have that mentality of fear, but I realize the need to be at the very least minimally prepared and when you feel the Holy Spirit is leading, then I take notice.

There are many disaster scenarios…from minimal to extreme. Some scenarios aren’t really possible to prepare for (like a nuclear winter) but many other scenarios, yes. Who wants to be without food and water after an event  of some sort? Who wants to battle with others over getting groceries at the food store or cash at the ATM? Being prepared ahead is just a smart thing to do. Don’t go only by me, but seek out the best way (and in prayer) for your own family.

We may have an event in 2015 that we’ll need to have some non-perishable food on hand and some cash on hand. Enough for three months. The food does not have to be MRE’s that last 10-20 years, just canned protein/vegetables/starches, packaged non-perishables, to sustain you and your family. Whatever you want to eat that doesn’t need to be refrigerated.  Think extended hurricane with electric out part of the time. My impression is the electricity will be out for awhile but then be restored.

The Lord doesn’t want to gender fear so I have not been shown what it might be but all you have to do is read the news and it could be any number of things. Just one look at our President and all he’s done would encourage a bully nation to come and try to wreak terror here. We have a largely unprotected southern border that anyone can get in. It took only 19 terrorists to take the World Trade Towers down. It doesn’t have to be a large event either. A small event would shake up most Americans as they haven’t had much hardship (regarding attacks) and it will cause mass panic.  I don’t want to have to shop or get cash carrying a gun or be shot at because I have groceries. Someone throwing around ebola blood in a public  place in a few cities would cause fear.

*That we need to stock up on three months supply of non-perishable food *…This would be meat and starches mainly and vegetables/fruit as you desire  to sustain life. At any given time, Publix only has 2-3 days of food in their storage and a few more days of non-perishables if trucks can’t get there. Around here, all they have to say is a hurricane is coming and the  non-perishable food shelves are decimated within hours. Walmart can’t even keep jugs of water on the shelves throughout a normal day let alone a disaster. If there is a terrorist or military strike or big weather event, or ebola outbreak, there will be a panic. Will the store workers come to the store, even if they could get there in a panic or disaster to restock them? I think not. Get canned goods, packaged goods, anything that will store.

*Have three months cash on hand * …as getting to an ATM may not be possible for a short while or the ATMs will  be out of cash or not working if electric is out. Banks have battery backup for a few days and then what. In disaster areas, banks pick one bank in an area to be open…if everyone went to get cash out, there would be fighting, guns and anarchy when the money ran out. I know of a few folks who bought guns and ammo for protection. A lot of folks I know already have guns and ammo.

*Depending on how you get water, stock up.*  City water flows from a tower by gravity to the home but it takes electricity to get the water up to the tower. Some people have wells but electric pumps. You’ll need water for drinking, sponge bathing and flushing  toilets. They say a person needs one gallon of water per day. Hand pumps on your land would be the best but who has these? We actually had one at the Powers house. *Electric may be out for awhile *…This means cooking on a fire pit, a gas grill or propane stove of some sort, having firewood, or extra tanks. Only a few days with electric down and everything that’s in the fridge/freezer is history. This happened to me several times in 2004 hurricane season. I went over 3 weeks without electric. *My impression is we need to have food and cash ready by end of March if  possible.

This is not to engender any kind of fear as no fear is ever of God. We can  trust in Him that He will take us through anything that comes. He will either deliver us *from it* altogether or deliver us *through* it. There is such a thing as using wisdom to be ready for ‘what’ we can’t be certain. *“A  prudent man foreseeth the evil and hideth himself but the simple pass on and are punished.” Proverbs 22:3*

If my impression is wrong or if the Lord answers prayer and keeps something from happening then all you’ll have is some food stored up, not a wasted effort. I do not think this is the “tribulation” starting either, at least not this year, but something that we can and will as a nation recuperate from.

There are inexpensive *wind up emergency radios*, *solar powered cell phone chargers* and *solar powered flashlights*. The internet will be very iffy if power is down. Radio will be king again and probably the only news source during power outage. Individual email accounts and webpages are stored on servers located all around us and who knows the kind of power backup they have and for how long. Gas generators are only good if you have gas. I did a little checking on cell phones and during a disaster, cell  phone towers have battery backup but for how long? If your call is using many cellphone towers to complete a call, even if one is not online, then the call won’t go through. The old fashioned analog landline phones (not  mobile phones) will work when electricity is out as they don’t need electricity providing phone lines are not destroyed. I highly recommend  getting at least one. They just plug into the phone jack. I made calls with no electricity during the hurricanes for three weeks since the phone line system wasn’t damaged. You can get them cheap $5-6 at Radio Shack or Amazon or Walmart. It’s a good idea for families to have a system planned for contacting each other during a disaster. Imagine not knowing how your loved  ones are faring.

The time to take action is when things are peaceful and not wait till there is an emergency because of an event and everyone is thinking the same thing causing possibly many dangerous situations that could have been avoided.  Like I said, don’t go only by me but seek wisdom for yourself as well.

*A prudent man foreseeth the evil and hideth himself but the simple pass on and are punished.” Proverbs 22:3*

*Love, **Kathy*

This concludes my initial presentation. My extended family and a number of our friends are preparing. We are trying to be like the ant (Proverbs 6:6-8) and not the grasshopper (Aesop’s fable of failure to prepare).
I will be posting more articles on how to prepare as inexpensively as possible and some concerns and little tricks you may never have thought of.

How can we be sure this matters?
Comes from God?
I like this little reminder from Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas.
