Never Forgotten

I have been thinking a lot lately about how the storage of information, especially now in our era of things like the web and Google, is like a person who never forgets. For most of us who write regularly, that means things we have written, sometimes in an offhanded manner or simply as comments on some obscure web site, could one day come back to bite us. Forewarned is forearmed.

Then I am reminded of God, that great cloud of witnesses, and that book that will be opened. I am assured or maybe I should say I am unsettled to remember that everything I have said and done and I guess even thought, is an open book to eternity. That kind of puts the arguments over Bush’s National Guard service and whether those memos are forgeries or not in a different perspective , don’t you think?

What else is there left to say except have mercy Lord, have mercy.
