The Problem Of Evil

There are those who believe that all religions of any consequence are an attempt to deal with the problem of evil and it is that problem that perplexes even the rationalists. I disagree. If we really lived in the sterile, non-spiritual, no ghost in the machine universe most scientific rationalists believe in, the real problem would be how to deal with the good, the loving, the gracious. Evil is just Darwinism gone wild. But, where did the good come from in this spiritually sterile world so many envision?
