That is God’s basic position. He has revealed himself to mankind, in Creation, in Word and in Deed. He has laid out his position. That is who he is.
He has made demands and called those who wish to respond. He does not make excuses, or pull his punches. Like it, or leave it; he is the same. It is we who must choose; he has already made his choices: in eternity, in creation, in the incarnation, and on the cross.
The ball is in our court. To quote the ancient Israeli general, Joshua the son of Nun: “Choose today whom you will serve.” To quote the contemporary artist, Bob Dilan in Gotta Serve Somebody: “Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord, But you’re gonna have to serve somebody.”
Grace and peace to your day and your choice.
