“Anyone who describes Islam as a religion as intolerant encourages violence.” Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam
That statement is remarkable in its oxymoronic candor. Some have tried to call it paradoxical, which does disservice to the word. However, the statement does illustrate a problem that appears epidemic in the Muslim world in which its apologists actually make the case they trying to defend against.
In the movie, Batman Begins, Rachel Dawes tells Bruce Wayne, “It’s what you do that defines you.” (See my post on the subject.) So, our actions speak louder than our words. For the followers of Islam it would be good to take that to heart, but as the statement above suggests, that advice appears to fall on deaf ears.
