2021 Lent Day 5 – Consistent Commitment

The problem with trying to do something new every day is that it is easy to forget, since it takes a while to make it a habit, something you remember to do. I almost forgot to post something today, but God in His mercy reminded me. He is helping me keep my Lenten commitment. It’s a small thing, a simple reminder, but that is the way our God is. He gives us gentle nudges to do the right thing, to keep our promises, to make the right choices. So tonight He reminded me that I had forgotten to write something,

I started two days late and almost flaked out on the fifth day, actually my third day writing something. It is so easy to mess up, but our Father is there to help with a gentle reminder. I am so thankful for that. It helps keep the hope alive that He really does care about me, wants the best for me, tries, as they used to say, to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Thank you, my Father who art in heaven. You have blessed me today in oh so many ways, but this was the best way – you helped me keep my commitment, kept me from failing so early in the effort. You are a true Father, an example we can all aspire to in the simple things in life. Thank you God for being who you are, the Almighty Creator of all that is, who cares enough about the little things in my mundane life to give me a simple reminder. You do indeed know the number of the hairs on my head. Praise and glory be to your name.

So I have no excuse to not take and effort at the little things either, for you have shown me the way. I have no excuse. Nothing is too small to do right, too little to not matter. Again I say, thank you. Amen.
