I ran across an interesting article today that resonated with my Lenten concerns. It is titled “The Identity Crisis of the Modern American Christian and How to Fix It”. At first, the title put me a bit off, since it sounded a bit presumptuous, but as I got into the arguments the author presented, t I saw that it had a lot of merit, since at its heart it focused on reminding us as Christians who really define us. We need to shrug off what others, or the world thinks of us, and decide how we define ourselves. We do that by considering first and foremost how God defines us and take his definition to heart. It is very important that we do not let the internal conflict between the new man and the old man that Paul describes in Romans 7 take hold of us. We can never forget that Romans 7 is followed by Romans 8, which establishes beyond any doubt who we really are in Christ Jesus our Lord; that we are the chosen, who cannot be separated from God in Christ by anything, anywhere, at any time.
Here is the link to the article. I suggest that you take a moment to read and take its advice to heart. God’s best blessings to you today and may you sleep the sleep of a child of the King tonight, peaceful and protected.
