Haiku is all about syllable count. I don’t remember the exact requirements, but one of lines is supposed to be 12 syllables long.
Traditionally haiku is 17 syllables but in a 5-7-5 setup for the three lines of the verse. However, since this was Democratic Haiku, I thought the “message” was the important thing and we could make up the rules as we went along. Isn’t that the Democratic way? 😉
