Entering Narnia

Information is finally appearing about the Walden Media production of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. The first movie is set for a December 2005 release. NarniaWeb has even put together desktop wallpaper (seen below) that was compiled from the recent Narnia banner images previewed on the site.

I have long been an admirer of C.S. Lewis’ Christian allegory and along with many others have looked forward to a full-blown production, ala Peter Jackson’s The Lord of The Rings trilogy. If you have never read the stories or just want to reread them you can get the books from Christian Book Distributors in a seven volume slipcase or single volume edition. Both affliate links give me 6% but cost you no more and help offset the cost of this site. Most public libraries also carry copies.

Here’s hoping that the production exceeds expectations both critically and fan-wise. Peter Jackson set a high standard for fantasy/allegory film translations and lets hope Andrew Adamson, director of the two Shrek films, is up to the challenge. I was glad to hear that Richard Taylor and WETA Digital, who did the special effects for The Lord of the Rings and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World is doing the work for the first Narnia film.
