Bad Language And Comment Spam

I was going through on a deleting pass of the approximately 200-300 spam comments I get a day when I forgot to click the “Invert Checkbox Selection” link and deleted the good comments rather than the spam. Real comments get mixed in with the spam and the easiest approach is to check them and then at the bottom of the page select the Invert Checkbox Selection link and clear their selection while selecting the spam instead. That works because the real comments or usually less than five or six on a page of twenty comments. After deleting about seven pages of (twenty to a page) with a few good ones to be reversed I came to the end and in a brain freeze didn’t click the Invert link and lost the last seven comments, AGAIN. A few non-evangelical phrases passed my lips referring to what Paul considered his birthright as I pounded the desk several times in exasperation.

I really do need to find a WordPress person to help me move to the new release and set up my comments/trackbacks so I don’t have this happen again. It is very frustrating to lose the efforts of people who made an effort to comment. So, if you are a WordPress Pro, HELP! I will pay. Really, I will.

Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

  1. Upgrading to the 1.5x isn’t that bad, actually. I was breathing into a paper bag just thinking about it, but I just followed the instructions given and it took about 5-10 minutes.

Didn’t you say that your template is extremely personalized? If so, there may be a few bumps in the process, but I honestly don’t think it will be as terrible as I thought it would be. Also, the upgrades in the new version are nice to have. 1.6 looks like another up and coming quantum leap!
